MAJOR EVENTS IN MALAYSIA
Tai Chi is a form of martial art created in China about 600-700 years ago.
Around 1926 – Tai Chi Chuan was introduced in Malaysia through merchants and medicine traders from China.
1929 onwards – Chin Wu Association promoted Tai Chi Chuan at all its braches in Malaysia with the support of famous Masters like Chen Wei Ming, Lin Bo Yan and Tung Ying Kit.
1957 – Master Chen Man Ching, Huang Sheng Shyuan , andYe Xiu Ting promoted and taught Tai Chuan in Malaysia. Subsequently many Tai Chi Master form China came to Malaysia and taught at various organisations and group as follows: Tung Yin Kit – Selangor Yang’s Tai Chi Physical Culture Association (雪蘭莪楊家太極健身社); Huang Sheng Shyuan -Huang’s Tai Chi Society(黃氏太極學會); Ye Xiu Ting -Tai Chi Physical Culture Association, SBN Perai (威北太極體育會); Taiji Association Penang檳城太極體育會; Fu Sheng Yuan – Fu Sheng Yuan International Tai Chi (傅聲遠太極學院); Yongnian Taijiquan Association Johore (永年太極學會).

In 2003 Grand Master Yang Zhengduo visited Malaysia, Many Yang Style Tai Chi groups land Association expressed to him their interests to form a parent body. As a result of this Dato Lim Chiew Ah, disciple of Grand master Yang Zhenduo set up Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan Association.

2006 – Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan Association of Malaysia was officially formed.

2007 The Association organised its first major event – World Tai Chi Convention 2007 in Kuala Lumpur, which consisted of seminar and performances from the 5 main groups of Grand Masters from China (Chen, Yang, Wu, Wu and Sun)). This was held in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2007 with the support from the Ministry of Sports and Ministry of Health .Thousands of Tai Chi students and enthusiasts performed Tai Chi Chuan (24forms) at Dataran Merdeka Kuala Lumpur.

2008 Continuation of efforts to spread the concept of All Tai Chi groups are one family through seminars and goodwill visits to encourage exchange of ideas among different group, associations and masters.

2009 – First seminar was successfully held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, East Malaysia. Grand Master Yang Zheng Duo sent Master Yang Bin to Malaysia to teach the original form of Yang Tai Chi Chuan in Kuala Lumpur. He also conducted seminars in Penang, Ipoh and Seberang Prai.

Participated in Hong Kong Wushu Festival 2009 Competition . He was appointed Judge for the Competition.

2010 – Many from Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan Association of Malaysia attended the 8th Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan 5th Generation Experts Forum and Cheng Man Ching’s 110 anniversary which was held in Taiwan.

2011 – Official opening of Yang Chengfu Tai Chi Chuan Centre of Malaysia and celebrated in conjunction with the Association’s 5th Anniversary Dinner held at Tian How Temple. It was attended by approximately 1000 members, Tai Chi enthusiasts and friends. The main objective of Yang Chengfu Tai Chi Chuan Centre is to provide opportunities for training, ranking and certifications to train and promote the art of Tai Chi chuan, sword and sabre.

2012 – Members of Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan Association of Malaysia went to China to celebrate Grand Master Yang Zheng Duo’s birthday. They also participated in the 4th International Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan competition in Tai Yuan Shanxi, China.

2015 – Led the group attending Grand Master Yang Zhenduo’s 90 birthday celebration.
Presented the donation of RMB26,000 toward the development of Tai Chi Park in memorial of the contribution by Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan.

2016 – (1)To continually upgrading Tai Chi development in Malaysia, the Association set up Tai Chi Ranking Program. To compliment to this mission, Dato Lim Chew Ah and Master Sim Eng Ker established Yang Tai Chi Training Centers, shouldering the full responsibilities of implementing system, including systematic planning, training , accessing, testing and awarding rules and standard.
Many senior practitioners with many years of consistent training, practice and of good moral character and contribution to Tai Chi development were accessed and awarded accordingly.

(2) Visited Hainan University for Tai Chi and cultural exchange. Introduced and shared Malaysian experience of Tai Chi Chuan into Institution of higher learning at University level.
